Phil Jackson BSc CEng FICE FRSA

Phil is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and has considerable practical experience in design, construction and asset management. After his early career in Highway and Bridge design and construction he moved on to use that experience by becoming director of information Technology in a major international engineering consultancy followed by a senior role in Bentley Professional Services. He now provides advice as a data strategist to a number of international clients and projects through his own independent consulting practice.He chairs the Institution of Civil Engineers Information Systems Panel, serves on the executive board of Building Smart UK, and is the Royal Academy visiting teaching Fellow for BIM at the University of Surrey. He has been closely involved with development of the UK Government BIM Strategy over the past three years and serves as a BIM Support Officer within the UK BIM Task Group.

Prof. Saleh A. Mubarak Ph.D.
Qatar University, Head of the Civil Engineering Department
He holds a PhD in civil engineering from Clemson University (USA) with a specialty in construction management. His main area of focus is project controls, planning & scheduling, project management, and cost estimating. He has 24 years of diversified experience in the construction industry and academia. He is an authority in project planning and scheduling, and an author of two books and many articles. He is a public speaker and a writer. He did many presentations in conferences around the world, and is active in continuing education.

Rene Schumann
HOCHTIEF ViCon, Managing Director
After finalising his studies with a degree in Structural Engineering and certification as a Project Manager, René started his career at HOCHTIEF as an onsite Construction Manager in 1998. After two years he moved to the HOCHTIEF AG Headquarters in the Corporate Development department, acting as a Consultant for Collaboration Software and later as a Project Manager until 2004. After this time René left HOCHTIEF and undertook employment at Siemens as an IT Project Manager. In 2005 René joined HOCHTIEF AG Headquarters again to support their 3D initiative out of which HOCHTIEF ViCon emerged in 2007. From day one he was Head of Professional Services, in a role that encompassed defining products and processes to enhance established construction procedures and gain benefits for Clients throughout the industry.In 2009 HOCHTIEF ViCon founded a subsidiary in Qatar, where Rene took on the responsibility of Managing Director. Through his close relationships with the construction community, and guiding work on high profile projects, René has lead the team in Qatar to reach a prominent position in the Qatari construction market.

Prof. Nashwan Dawood Ph.D. (United Kingdom)
Teesside University, Director of Technology Future Institute (TFI)
Prof. Dawood is currently the director of Technology Future Institute (TFI) and director and founder of the Centre for Construction Innovation & Research (CCIR) at Teesside University, UK. He has spent many years as an academic, practitioner and researcher within the field of project and construction management and the application of BIM in the construction process. This has ranged across a number of research topics including sustainability, ICT for energy efficient buildings, information technologies and systems (nD, VR, integrated databases), planning and management of off-site production, risk management and intelligent decision support systems. Prof. Dawood’s work has been widely published in leading journals, as well as being awarded numerous grants from industry bodies. A well known speaker at international conferences, he is the founder of the CONVR (Construction Application of VR) conference series.

Sharaf Yahya Abdulkader Eng.
Ashghal PWA, Senior Planning Engineer.
Sharaf is a Ph.D. student at Concordia University – Montreal, Quebec, Canada with the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science, Building Engineering. He is holding a master degree of engineering in engineering management from the University of Ottawa, Canada. Also, he is holding a master degree in project management from Université du Québec en Outaouais. Currently he is working with Ashghal “PWA” as a Senior Planning Engineer. He has worked with the Federal Government of Canada as System Engineering Manager and as a Configuration Manager in a few projects for the DND. Also, he owned and run an office of Design and Construction and managed to win many contracts in the world of construction.

Daniel Frawley
Woods Bagot, Regional Practice Technology Leader
Daniel has over 17 years of experience in the Engineering, Spatial and Building Information Modeling fields having worked in Australia, UK and UAE. Working within the related fields of architecture, engineering, GIS and cadastral surveying has allowed Daniel to gain a wide project experience always using the latest technologies of CAD, GIS and now BIM in practice across many large scale projects. He is a qualified Autodesk Revit professional (Training & Implementation) and uses this expertise to educate others in structured educational programs. Daniel has extensive experience and foresight with regard to the latest 3D related design tools and procedures, including technical documentation, training and presentation skills. He also has extensive experience with the management of project BIM and CAD systems, ongoing supervision of project modeling, documentation and establishing procedures for using CAD/BIM processes for large scale projects.

Waleed Hashem
OBERMEYER Middle East GmbH, Project Manager and Business Development Manager for the GCC region
Graduated in a major of Architecture and a minor of Urban Design from the American University of Sharjah, with a “magna cum laude”. He joined OBERMEYER as a Designer and quickly climbed the ranks to Project Manager. His position exposed him to constant market changes in design which kept him abreast of technology challenges, Architects and Engineers continually face. Through his keen interest in innovation he was able to adapt key cost and time saving processes by applying the lean and agile BIM technology. Amongst various projects, Waleed’s main achievements can be recognized in the Tatweer Twin Towers (100 floors), 700-bed Al-Mafraq General world-class Hospital, Special Security Hospital, and others characterized by experimentation with new architectural typologies and new methods of urban development. As an architect, the implementation of BIM technology facilitated his task to lead conceptual, schematic, design development, construction document phases and coordination. With advanced skills in Revit Architecture, he has been able to achieve the highest levels of efficiency, optimization and quality.

Nader Elharidy, BArch
BIM Manager, (Lusail City Project), HOCHTIEF ViCon Qatar W.L.L.
Nader is a registered architect graduated from Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University in 1991. With more than 20 years of diverse background in 3D modeling and Visualization, from which the last 10 years were in BIM solutions and implementations. He is a Certified Autodesk Revit Professional and participated in multiple international events and trainings in Australia, Germany, China, Dubai, Egypt, and Qatar. He joined HOCHTIEF ViCon Qatar in 2011 as the BIM Manager for Lusail City project (a 38 sq KM development with more than 400,000 inhabitants) Lusail City BIM model is one of the largest digital models in the world and Nader is responsible for BIM implementation and management through all of the construction packages. He leads a multinational team of modelers, Quality checkers and clash detection professionals in Germany, India, and Qatar.

Anand Geethagovindan
Autodesk Education, AEC Solutions Manager (India, Middle East and Africa region)
Received his Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering from Bangalore University, India. He has been in the CAD industry for almost his entire 14 years of his career, of which 9+ years in Autodesk. His experience includes Training, Sales and Support of almost all the products under the Autodesk AEC portfolio of products. Currently his role is to drive and engage students, faculties and institution in implementing BIM and also the Autodesk BIM portfolio of products in his region. He is also an Autodesk Certified Evaluator.

Winn Gomez
Oger International Abu Dhabi, BIM Manager
Winn is the BIM Manager at the Louvre Museum Abu Dhabi representing the appointed contractors on this project. A Civil Engineer by trade with a strong background in Architecture, Structural Engineering and Project Management. With almost a decade of experience & knowledge in software processes, he has been delivering BIM implementation and training workshops to academia and industry in the Middle East since 2006. He also works with buildingSMART towards better interoperability using openBIM in projects across the region.
